The Portsbridge Hospice Inpatient facility is a twelve bed freestanding building that was designed with the hospice philosophy of home-like care. Under Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, patients come into the inpatient facility for a brief interval of time to manage symptoms that are accelerating or to receive supportive care at the very end of life. Often patients whose care is managed at home will come in and out of the inpatient hospice several times during their course of care. The hospice professional team and the family decide together when inpatient care is appropriate. Inpatient hospice care is a covered benefit of Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance policies. As always, Portsbridge hospice provides care regardless of ability to pay, so we invite you to come in and look around.

Portsbridge Hospice currently has three freestanding inpatient units. A fourth unit will be opening in late September. Plans are in the making for two new units, one in Columbia South Carolina and the second in Augusta Georgia.
